Alternate Handwriting
by Jay Markunas, Career Consultant
We hope you had the opportunity to hear our show with Betty Rogers on Saturday. Betty has been working with clients teaching the AH - Alternate Handwriting - technique. This technique lets the “left brain” get in touch with the “right brain”, and fascinating results arise from the two.
The “left brain” is considered to contain your logical, sequential, analytical, and objective thinking. The “right brain” is considered to be the intuitive, holistic, synthesizing, and subjective mind. Artists, Musicians, and creative-types rely heavily on their “right brain”. Business owners, Engineers, and non-creative types rely heavily on their “left brain”. Betty’s technique allows your logical brain to communicate with your artistic brain.
The Alternate Handwriting technique is simple. Betty says to get started, write your full name with your non-dominant hand. This is a warm-up exercise. Then with your dominant hand, write out a question. Put the pen or pencil in the other hand, and let it respond. It’s just that simple. Betty calls this the therapist at your fingertips.
She used this technique when she was unemployed to work through possible career next steps. It is a simple step you can do in your own search. Maybe writing down some lingering question like “will I enjoy being an attorney?”, “what career should I explore?”, or “should I consider a career change”. Just see what the other hand says. It may be just what you need to get started on a career transition.
Hopefully your other hand will remind you of the upcoming Destination: New Career coming up this Saturday, October 23rd. Tomorrow is the last day to sign up for early bird pricing so hurry! We will teach your the steps to take to identify, prepare, and get working in a career you absolutely love!
