Daily Job Tip: Top 3 Reasons You May Not Be Getting The Job
The top three reasons you may not be getting the job when interviewing:
#1 - Lack of Enthusiasm.
Searching for a job can be draining. It’s easy to feel down during the process. However, you have to convey enthusiasm in your interviews. I use an acronym when speaking on interviewing: A-C-E. Attitude, Confidence, and Enthusiasm. Remember to have a positive attitude, be confident in your ability to do the job, and display enthusiasm when you are in the interview.
#2 - What’s in it for me?
A sure way to sink the interview is to go in with an attitude of “what’s in it for me?”. Salary, benefits, work-from-home, holidays, etc… should be reserved for the FINAL interview.
#3 - Lack of interpersonal skills.
Listening, eye contact, posture are very important in the interview. I like to recommend a 50/50 rule - you are listening 50% of the time, and talking 50% of the time. Make sure you are making good eye contact. Use the “triangle” method - look at one eye for 5 seconds, the next eye for 5 seconds, the mouth for 5 seconds, then repeat.
Remember to avoid these 3 issues in your interview, and you’ll see much more success!
