When Life Just Won’t Let Us Quit

Saturday on our Show (iTunes), we had Benjy Portnouy joining us. Benjy is the owner of Courage, Inc. His company helps people overcome social fears and create stronger confidence and connection in their lives. He helps people find the courage they need in their careers, social situations, and dating. We asked Benjy to tell us about one of the most inspiring interviews he’s had with people. Benjy told us the story of “Big Bald Mike”.
Mike’s story really grabbed me. Mike had seen many of his friends become hospitalized or killed in a very relatively short amount of time - suicides, accidents, etc. He was depressed, overweight, and decided to take his own life. One day he took 40 vicodin and washed it down with two bottles of whiskey. He didn’t leave a note. He had just had enough, and he was depressed.

I believe in a higher power. One that sees our true potential. Like a good “Parent”, Life will encourage us along and pick us up when we make mistakes. After taking vicodin and drinking whiskey, Mike was surprised when he woke up 2 days later. He was alive. Although Mike was ready to give up on life, Life wasn’t ready to give up on him. Mike decided at that point that he needed to change. He needed to have the courage to make a change. He lost a lot of weight, and pinpointed his interests in life so he can have a career which excites him - motivating others.
Opportunity
Big Bald Mike is going to have the opportunity to motivate others. He already has motivated many by his story, but now he will be able to speak about it. He is the keynote speaker at Courage, Inc.’s upcoming Inner Circle Membership Site Launch on Sept. 14th.
