Tory Johnson’s “Video Resume Tips”

by Angela Loëb

Thinking of creating a video resume? If so, you should check out these tips from Tory Johnson, regular contributor to ABC News, CEO of Women For Hire, and author of Fired To Hired.

Tory’s 5 Tips:
1. Plan and practice exactly what you want to say.
2. Keep it short - 1 to 2 minutes tops.
3. Consider the background - use good lighting and turn off all background sounds.
4. Look directly into the camera.
5. Consider where you’re going to distribute this video - keep in mind your intended target rather than plastering it on youtube.com and all over the internet.

Reminder… Check out this Saturday’s Job Search Boot Camp Show (3/19; 10am CT). Special guest, Dr. David Litton, joins us to talk about career assessments for careeer change. He’ll also share his top strategies for dealing with a protracted job search.
