AIM Your Job Search

The Job Search Boot Camp - beginning on Thursday - has one purpose. The purpose is to help people get hired. We’ve been giving great career advice to readers of this blog and listeners of our Show. We’ve held tele-classes and live seminars to help people position themselves to get hired. Most believe a great resume will get you hired, and the resume is the only thing you need to get the job. This isn’t necessarily true. It takes three steps. Three steps that we call READY, AIM, GET HIRED!

Yesterday I mentioned the READY piece. READY yourself/READY your RESUME. There are many techniques that we can teach you that really work. Getting your resume noticed is the initial piece of your job search, but it’s just the starting point.

AIM Your Search
When you have a clear direction on HOW to perform an effective job search, you’ll see better (and faster) results. Searching on the big job boards (monster, careerbuilder, etc) yield about a 10% success rate. Most job seekers spend 90%-100% of their time on something that yields a 10% success rate. A “reactive job search” is reacting to a job posting. A “proactive job search” is the type of search that yields results.

The Job Search Boot Camp
We teach how to incorporate the reactive + proactive to get results. The Job Search Boot Camp is a 3-evening webcast beginning on Feb. 18th from 7pm - 8:30pm (central), Feb. 25th, and Mar. 4th. These are all Live webcasts, however if you can’t make one of the live webcasts you may view the replay via streaming media.

With webcast technology, you can learn how to find a job quicker and easier from the comfort of your own home even in your pajamas!

I like the Boot Camp concept. I cannot do this now, I am that broke.

I see you do something for Dell.
I actually got a phone interview from them for “Firmware Design Engineer”. But this went nowhere. I never heard anything from them after the interview. This was a contract position through APN Software (contract agency). It seems like they feel like giving you no answer if they have lost interest.
Also many agencies and postings by agencies do not tell you the company at first, I really would like this info.
Do you have any thoughts about Dell, and what they might be needing? I would like to help them in some way (anyway I can physically at this point). It does not have to be a high level job. I would like to be doing something to avoid losing my living place, etc.
