Yes, Absolutely, Get On LinkedIn
By Angela Loëb
Yesterday, two different clients asked me if they should get on LinkedIn. My answer, of course, was, “Yes, absolutely.” I’m a big believer in using LinkedIn to do research and stay in touch in a soft way with your network.
It’s also a huge resource for recruiters these days. Many of my clients report having been contacted by recruiters as a result of their profile on LinkedIn. I guess this isn’t surprising since LinkedIn claims that more than 40% of the Fortune 500 are using the site as their primary recruiting resource.
Here are a few useful resources to help you get on and use LinkedIn in case you’re not there yet:
- Book by Jason Alba, I’m on LinkedIn, Now What?!?
- Free webinar by LinkedIn… Click Here
- Job Seekers resource page on the LinkedIn website… Click Here
- Listen to our interview with social media expert, Lissa Duty, on the Job Search Boot Camp Show… Click Here (Be sure to turn on your computer’s speakers.)
- As of today, there are 89 blog articles about LinkedIn at Recareered. I haven’t read them all, but I’ve read enough to know that Phil Rosenberg seems to know his stuff… Click Here
- About.com (one of my online favorite resources) has an excellent article focused on how to use LinkedIn for job hunting… Click Here

Click below link to learn more details about the whole Career Transition Series that runs until February 24th: http://door64.com/event/n/29017 . I’m proud to be part of this excellent program serving our community!
UPDATE: The program at Covenant Presbyterian Church has been shifted one week out due to inclement weather. “Focusing Your Job Search” will be presented on Thursday, 2/10/11 instead.
One of my favorite uses of LinkedIn in the job search is locating who I might know at a target company or who do I know, knows someone at a target company.
This is valuable in networking into a prospective employer!
